2 pedestrians killed in 2 Modesto crashes hours apart

The first incident happened just after midnight Saturday when a black Saturn was going west on Sylvan Avenue, east of McHenry Avenue and hit a pedestrian in the No. 1 lane before slamming into a light pole, Modesto police said.
