$21M transportation grant will add funding for Wichita's north junction project

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the city of Wichita with a $21 million grant to replace single-lane ramps with two-lane ramps at the north junction, where I-235, I-135, K-96 and K-254 connect.The grant will also fund the construction of a new two-lane flyover ramp that will directly connect drivers continuing on K-96 west from I-135 to I-235.The project began with a design phase in 2015 and began construction on I-235 in 2018.
