UH loses one of three Abbott-appointed regents

The University of Houston System is down a regent after one of three new board members appointed by Gov. Greg Abbott has said he will not serve, according to the governor's office. Joe Gutierrez was one of three Houston businessmen appointed to UH's board last month to serve a six-year term. He, Doug Brooks and Jack Moore replaced Spencer Armour III, Roger F. Welder and Welcome W. Wilson Jr.
