Public comments extended on coastal barrier proposal
The Texas General Land Office and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have agreed to extend the current 75-day public comment period on the coastal barrier proposal — a system of levees and gates running from High Island to San Luis Pass, once known as the "Ike Dike" — by 30 days, and add a second public comment period after the Corps has digested the feedback from the current one.
