Most pregnancy-related deaths preventable, state report finds
The vast majority of maternal deaths in Texas under review by a state task force may have been preventable, according to a report by the panel.The report, released Monday, found that with proper intervention, there should have been at least some chance of preventing 80 percent of pregnancy-related deaths that occurred in 2012. The preventable deaths were caused by cardiovascular disease, obstetric hemorrhage and infection or sepsis.
