Lupe Valdez makes payments on overdue taxes

A day after making headlines for having more than $12,000 in overdue tax bills, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Lupe Valdez on Friday began paying off some of the arrears.Dallas County Tax Office online records show Valdez, 70, the former Dallas County sheriff, had nearly $4,700 in pending payments on six properties she owns in Dallas -- including two that were being fully paid off.
