Ever wonder why the "H" in Humble is silent?Back in the early 1900's Humble, formerly called "Pleasant Humble" was known as the largest oil producing field in Texas.
When Humble struck oil in 1904, the town's population increased from several hundred to a few thousand residents. Many of the newcomers were looking to make their fortune from the oil field.
