Council to vote on $2M upgrade to fire training burn building

The Houston Fire Department's burn building, a key training facility, is set for a makeover.
City Council is poised to appropriate $2 million Wednesday for the Houston-based Drymalla Construction Company to renovate the department’s 12,000-square-foot burn building near Hobby Airport.The upgrades to the facility where cadets learn how to fight fires will include new heat shields, a retrofitted training system and structural repairs.
