City unveils new program to combat youth violence

A new collaborative trying to tackle youth violence in the Houston area will approach it as a public health issue, organizers said Monday.
Houston Peace comprises 10 entities, including the Houston Police Department, Health Department and Complete Communities — a governmental program that works to provide more resources to disenfranchised communities — that have banded together to approach youth violence not as criminal justice or law enforcement issue.
