Audit: UH's financial aid systems didn't properly vet students

The University of Houston gave incorrect amounts of federal money to students asking for financial aid because campus systems did not properly evaluate student eligibility, state auditors found. The audit focused on the University of Houston's distribution of financial aid, including through federal work-study money, the Pell Grant for low-income students and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Auditors found similar problems at UH in 2016 as well.
