At least half of COVID-19 patients on ventilators don't make it

As many as two-thirds of critically ill patients - who struggle to breathe as their lungs fill up with fluid - end up succumbing to the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, according to early reporting on deaths out of China, Italy and the United States.
