PUC rejects HECO’s power-generation proposal ‘without demonstration of need’

The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission declined Hawaiian Electric Co.’s request to expand fuel-­flexible power generation on Oahu by 500 megawatts from any developer, finding that it would not be in the public’s best interest to move forward without identifying whether Oahu needs it.
