Japanese, U.S. officials urge peace at memorial event

Japanese and American officials gathered Thursday on FordIsland for the annualJapan-U.S. Joint Memorial Ceremony where they reflected on the devastation of the attack on Pearl Harbor, the fighting that followed and how to prevent it from ever happening again. The event comes at the tail end of a series of events commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Oahu by theJapanese navy.
