Handcuffed man who escaped from West Miami police custody caught

A handcuffed man who escaped from police Wednesday afternoon was taken into custody.A West Miami police officer told Local 10 News reporter Amy Viteri that a man in their custody escaped while he was in handcuffs.The officer said she didn't know why the man was in custody or how he got away.A police perimeter was established near Northwest 36th Street and Northwest 72nd Avenue.Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Jennifer Capote said the suspect was eventually caught as he tried to swim across a canal
