Fremont: Police arrest suspected car thief after hours-long search

After an extended search, Fremont police on Saturday arrested a 17-year-old boy who they said stole a truck out of a man's driveway, fled pursuing officers and threatened a postal carrier with a knife. What would become a more than four-hour incident began just before 8 a.m. Saturday when a man called 911 to report his Ford truck with a ladder rack was stolen from his home's driveway near the 3600 block of Mission View Drive, in Central Fremont.
