Hurricane Beryl weakens to Category 1 storm over Mexico

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Hurricane Beryl made landfall as a Category 2 storm Friday morning before weakening to a Category 1 storm.The hurricane made landfall just north of Tulum, Mexico, with 110 mph winds.As of the 11 a.m. update, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center said Beryl’s maximum sustained winds had decreased to 85 mph.The hurricane is expected to weaken more after it moves inland and crosses the Yucatan Peninsula.
