Rockies pitcher Chad Bettis needs chemotherapy after cancer spreads

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Chad Bettis beamed with relief last month when doctors showed him some promising cancer test results. But the Rockies right-hander will now require chemotherapy after doctors found his testicular cancer spread, he said Friday.
Bettis, 27, who won 14 games last year to lead the Rockies, is the oldest member of what sets up as a young and promising pitching rotation. But Bettis will now require several weeks of treatment for a new round of cancer.
