Man Learns Sentence In Racially-Motivated Attack

DENVER (CBS4) – A man who attacked a woman in what the victim claims was a racially-motivated assault learned his sentence Monday afternoon.
Christopher Derby pleaded guilty to a bias-motivated crime resulting in bodily injury in May. As part of his plea deal one of the charges — third-degree assault — was dropped.
Derby was sentenced to 4 years in the Department of Corrections and 2 years of mandatory probation. He also needs to pay $1,200 in restitution.
