Great Sand Dunes Celebrates 85 Years

ALAMOSA, Colo. (CBS4) – The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve is celebrating 85 years as a protected land Friday.
The park posted the announcement to their Facebook page, saying “on this day 85 years ago, President Herbert Hoover protected the 30-square-mile dunefield by establishing Great sand Dunes National Monument.”

The monument was expanded in 2004 to include related and neighboring ecosystems.
