Energy bills could go up 3 percent if Xcel granted cost adjustment

Xcel Energy expects electricity and natural gas costs to remain stable in the final three months of the year, according to quarterly updates the company made Thursday with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
Xcel Energy has requested an electric commodity adjustment that would boost the typical residential and small business electricity bill about 3 percent in the fourth quarter from the third, assuming the same amount of electricity is consumed.
