CDOT Equipment May Have Sparked Fire That Burned 8 Homes

By Rick SallingerBEULAH, Colo. (CBS4)– A piece of equipment used by the Colorado Department of Transportation is the suspected cause of a large fire that destroyed eight homes in Beulah. Nearly 2,000 people had to evacuate their homes.It is believed a spark from a track hoe may have triggered the fire. CDOT is taking responsibility and has given $5,000 to each of the homeowners whose houses were burned. The equipment was used to move rocks to prevent erosion along the St. Charles River. (c
