COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) – Steve Birnbaum scored a late goal to help D.C. United tie the Colorado Rapids 1-1 on Saturday night.
The United (13-10-6) had lost a season-high three consecutive games, yet pulled even with the New York Red Bulls atop the Eastern Conference with 45 points. The Rapids (8-10-10) remain at the bottom of the Western Conference, one point back of Real Salt Lake and Houston.
