Southwest Airlines sees bump in May traffic

Despite a fatal accident in mid-April that caused the airline to reduce its financial expectations, Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) carried 11.9 million revenue passengers in May, a 5.4 percent increase year-over-year.The airline saw other metrics rise last month, including number of enplaned passengers (up 5.3 percent), revenue passenger miles (up 4.2 percent) and trips flown (up 2.9 percent).
