HAVANA (AP) — Fifty-seven-year-old Communist Party official Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez replaced Raul Castro as the president of Cuba on Thursday, pledging to preserve the island’s communist system while gradually reforming the economy and making the government more responsive to the people.
