Wallingford winemakers hoping for warm weather windfall

WALLINGFORD - Kristen Parsons is the winemaker at Gouveia Vineyards in Wallingford. She is one part farmer/one part meteorologist and she knows what she needs for a perfect grape.
“We want dry hot weather," she said. "But not too hot.”
“We had a really nice dry summer," she said. "It is really great for the grapes. They thrive when they’re stressed. They can dig 40 feet down to find nutrients, so it makes for a heartier grape.”
