Victim In Fire Truck Crash Identified

ESSEX, Conn. (AP) – Connecticut State Police have identified a man who died in a crash with a firetruck in Essex as an 80-year-old from Deep River.
Police say the firetruck was stopped on the highway responding to an accident when it was hit by the vehicle around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday on state Route 9 southbound.
William Spitzschuh was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fire crews say a firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
