Shepaug River Cuts New Channel After Ice Jam

(CBS Connecticut) — In Roxbury, an ice jam on the Shepaug River caused the river to back up, and move its channel.
The river now runs through a farm field. The new channel has 6-foot banks and has replaced roughly 2-acres of pasture at the Bronson family’s farm.
Roxbury Emergency management Bernie Meehan said the ice jam is more than a quarter of a mile long, and more than 10-feet high.
Very few, if any, buildings are threatened.
