Memorial For Lighthouse Keeper To Be Dedicated In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) – A memorial honoring a 19th century lighthouse keeper who rescued some 21 mariners during her 56-year tenure is set to be dedicated in Bridgeport.
Coast Guard and state officials are scheduled to be among those participating in the ceremony Saturday morning in the Black Rock section of the city.
The memorial honors the heroism of Kate Moore, who was the keeper of the Black Rock Harbor Lighthouse from 1823 to 1879.
