Man pronounced dead after car lands in Saugatuck River, woman survives

WESTPORT —  One person has been pronounced dead after first responders received a call from witnesses involving a woman screaming for help in a river. On February 25, around 7:40 p.m. Lt. David Farrell of Westport Police Department said people at the restaurant, The Whelk, located on 575 Riverside Avenue in Westport, heard a woman screaming for help in Saugatuck River.
