Hartford bomb squad called after blasting cap discovered in Vernon

VERNON — Police in Vernon have set up a perimeter at South Street near Knollwood Drive following the discovery of blasting cap.
Police are evacuating people from the area.
Police said construction workers unearthed a blasting cap under a road around 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A blasting cap is a small explosive device usually used to detonate larger explosive devices.
The Hartford Bomb Squad is responding to evaluate the item.
