Fire Damages Historic Thompson Church

THOMPSON, Conn. (CBS Connecticut) – The cause of an overnight fire at the Thompson Congregational Church is under investigation.
The blaze in the centuries-old church was reported around 10 p.m. Thursday, according to First Selectman Ken Beausoleil. The state and local fire marshals were on the scene Friday morning.
The fire caused extensive damage to the rear of the church, and extended up into the building’s roof.
The church survived a steeple fire decades ago.
