Connecticut’s 2016 Senate race a quieter contest than past

HARTFORD — A one-time Olympian and political newcomer so far is the only Republican candidate to officially jump into Connecticut’s 2016 Senate race, when Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal faces re-election.
The lack of well-known candidates foreshadows what could be a much different election compared to the state’s recent string of highly contentious and competitive Senate races that attracted both big money and national attention.
