Zoo, school join up to help African students

As Emmie Bennett trekked along the quarter-mile track, she paid little attention to her weary muscles or the chilly breeze whipping through the air. Aided by her walking cane, the 12-year-old sixth-grader completed 10 determined laps — a total of 2 1/2 miles, she proudly told her teacher.
