Zoo receives anonymous donation of $1.5M

AKRON, Ohio — A zoo in Ohio says it has received an anonymous donation of $1.5 million for the largest gift in the institution's history.The Akron Zoo announced the donation in a statement Wednesday, saying that it will go toward a fundraising campaign for the facility's current expansion. Zoo officials said the fundraising campaign has now reached $4.8 million of its $6 million goal.The expansion will include new wildlife areas such as the Pride of Africa and Wild Asia.The Pride of Africa
