Whitehall signs deal to purchase troubled apartment complex

The city of Whitehall is one step closer to acquiring and razing a crime-ridden apartment complex. Mayor Kim Maggard signed a contract Monday for the city to purchase the Commons at Royal Landing for about $4.7 million. Closing is expected in mid-July, and the complex’s 300 or so tenants will be forced to find new homes once their current leases expire.
