The hallways were quiet, except for footsteps and the echoes of distant crying. Thaddeus Jones headed to a section of the school library where small groups of students were meeting with counselors. “I just kind of sat down where I fit in,” said Jones, 17, a senior at Northland High School. “I remember a lady came, and she hugged me at first. There wasn’t really any sound or any talking at first.”
