Veterans’ wives pack cookies for active-duty troops

MARYSVILLE, Ohio — Sitting at the head of her antique kitchen table, with nearly 1,500 homemade cookies spread out on trays and piled in aluminum pans and wicker baskets in front of her, Ella Mae Decker found a good-size piece of plastic wrap stuck to the sleeve of her red, white and blue shirt. She laughed as she plucked it off. “I don’t think I’d fit in one of those packages,” she said, pointing to stacks of plastic containers off to the side.
