Study: Deck on suspension bridge over Alum Creek 'too heavy'
The new bridge deck on the suspension bridge over Alum Creek near Wolfe Park was too heavy for the old, cracked and deteriorating cables that supported it. That’s why two cables snapped with whip-like force in April 2015, tipping the bridge. That was the conclusion of Ohio State University graduate students who volunteered and worked for two months to determine why the cables failed.
