Startup EmpowerBus rolls for greater social mobility

"I have fond memories of the school bus," said Rodriguez, who is the daughter of a bus mechanic and visited him often at work. Those experiences and her passion for social advocacy, she believes, resulted in her having a recurring dream in which she helped children get to school on a bus that also served as a rolling classroom with computer monitors installed on the seats.
