Should Columbus council members’ jobs be full-time?

Those in charge at Columbus City Hall are considering whether they should make their jobs on the city council full-time. Mayor Andrew J. Ginther and all seven council members will ask a not-yet-seated charter-review committee to study the idea. Council members currently serve in part-time positions with annual salaries of about $52,600. Any such change to the job classification would not require a charter change and could be enacted by the council itself, according to the city charter.
