Schools, local governments get a boost from state's timber sales

Timber sales from Ohio’s state forests generated 16 percent more cash for schools and local governments in 2015 than in 2014, according to new numbers from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The agency splits the money it earns on certain timber sales from state forests, keeping about 35 percent for itself after expenses and sending 65 percent back to the counties, townships and school districts where timber was harvested.
