School board names interim state superintendent

The state Board of Education unanimously named Lonny J. Rivera as interim superintendent of Ohio schools today. The No. 2 man at the Department of Education, Rivera has been an associate superintendent since April 27. His appointment, made during the board’s monthly meeting in Columbus, was expected as Rivera was the only one nominated by last week’s deadline.
