Scholastic shooting championships give young athletes a shot at a title

From a distance, the young athletes and their families could have been participating in big-time club-sports tournament Saturday, with crowds of people and colorful team banners and concessions tents outlined against a stunning blue sky. But, get closer, and the steady pop-pop-pop of shotgun fire, plus sponsor banners for Glock and Ruger instead of Nike, plus ear protection and safety glasses instead of shinguards, made it clear this wasn't a typical youth-sports shindig.
