Richard S. Ketcham, a well-known local defense attorney, died on Monday from ALS. He was 67. Ketcham worked many high-profile criminal cases in his four decades of practicing law, including 40 death-penalty cases. Among his notable victories, he helped to exonerate Timothy Howard and Gary James, who had received the death penalty in 1977 for robbery and murder. They were released in 2003.
