Random Thoughts: Ohio offers a warmth not felt in Los Angeles

It was a sight  to behold: My children frolicking under a golden sun on a Malibu beach, towering cliffs topped by celebrity mansions, dolphins popping up and down from beneath the blue sea. As recently as a month ago, when I lived in Los Angeles, this was my enchanted life.
