Police exchange gunfire with East side suspect

Columbus police responding to a report of a man firing gunshots early Saturday morning returned fire after the suspect refused orders to drop his gun. According to police reports, the fleeing suspect fired toward officers, one of whom shot back. A second man also was reported to have been caught by police after fleeing; he was reported to have a leg injury, but it is unclear at this time how or by whom he was injured.
