Pedestrian struck, killed in University District

A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed in the University District early this morning, according to Columbus police. Corene Haughton, 19, was driving a Honda Accord eastbound on King Avenue when she struck a man walking at the intersection of Belmont and King avenues just before 8 a.m., police said. The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
