Outdoors notebook | Nation’s top shooters competing in Port Clinton

An annual midsummer event in Ohio since 1907 already is under way at Camp Perry near Port Clinton in Ottawa County. Known as the “World Series of the Shooting Sports,” the National Matches — sponsored by the National Rifle Association, the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the Ohio National Guard — began two weekends ago and run through Aug. 9.
