One person dead in Near East Side shooting

Columbus police and fire paramedics were called at 6:20 p.m. to the 2100 block of Willamont Avenue at the intersection with Sunbury Road on a report of a shooting. The victim was taken in life-threatening condition to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead at 6:50 p.m. At least a dozen cones marking the location of shell casings or other evidence were placed in the street on Willamont by investigators and crime scene technicians.
