Ohio’s wealthier kids do better on state tests, group finds

Results of new state assessments show that large gaps persist between the performances of students from poor families versus their wealthier counterparts. An analysis released on Tuesday by an education-policy group examined tests given in the spring in English/language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. In all four subjects, the higher the percentage of poor students in a district, the lower the test scores.
